How long will it take?

They say that it takes 3 weeks until a new habit is formed.  21 days to get a new program or thought pattern established in the body....so you have to stay focused on what you are doing if you want to reprogram your mind.

Didn't I mention that?  If you want to see changes in your life you have to reprogram your mind.  Noticing where your thoughts are and not identifying with them is an important lesson.  I still work on my thought process and what story I am telling myself on a daily basis..especially when it comes to my body.  When those old thought patterns of unloving thoughts come up it is important to look at the thought and let them go without judgement.  Which can be pretty tricky at times.

All of this is tied with staying in tuned to your body and how you feel.

So keep drinking water and feeling good.

Focus Wheel

Loving where you are is key to success.  You must feel good now and sometimes it is really hard to appreciate your body, exactly as it is when you can't see your future self.  That is where the affirmations and focus wheels come in handy.

A focus wheel is a process to help you change your thoughts, especially if you have a lot of negative thoughts about your body right now.  I believe that taking the time to write something down will help shift the energy of your thinking process to help your cells to shift their perspective, because it is changing your resistance to your natural healing.  You have to start influencing wellness.  Writing it down and focusing on wellness is how you shift that energy.

So today, here is what to do....try a focus wheel.  Here is a video about what one is and how to do it:

TO DO:
STAY HYDRATED! DINK A TON OF WATER
BE NICE TO YOURSELF...no more mean voices about yourself inside of your head!
DO A FOCUS WHEEL ABOUT YOUR BODY
DO YOUR BEST TO EAT VERY WELL TODAY (lots of small meals)

Don't make me yell...oh you won't like it!

Where to Start?

We have already started, remember?  We have our safe word:

IRS AUDIT

Now what?  You've got to START EATING MORE FOOD!!!  I know, sounds wrong but it is true.  This is a lifestyle change that will really change your life.

Eating many small meals during the day rather than just one or two big meals helps metabolize fat and provide sustainable energy to keep you going.  Also, increasing proteins to build muscle but before building muscle it is important to get rid of the excess fat.  Some do that by eating a lot of meats (think Atkins diet) but increasing your vegetable consumption is the real secret.

The good news is that vegetables are cheap, compared to meat, and you can eat a TON OF THEM and lose weight!  One of the biggest lifestyle changes, that is hard for people to adjust to, is to start eating 6-8 small meals a day.  Eating smaller quantities distributed throughout the day creates sustainable energy for your vehicle.  Keep these small meals between 200-300 calories with 15-20 grams of protein for maximum effect.

Start by thinking of your body as a car and that when you notice your gas gauge drops past half-full but not beyond quarter-full, it is time to start eating.  The goal is to never let your tank fall to empty and have to make an emergence call to AAA for a burger and fries to fuel your body!

Keeping inspired about food is easy to do if you set yourself up for success.  That means cooking and knowing what quick fast foods that can help in a pinch, in case you do run out of fuel...you have got to have a back-up plan.

In a pinch, a protein bar or shake will tie you over if your gauge is at quarter-full.

But if you go for a piece of chocolate cake instead of a protein-packed snack, your body will be calling out IRS AUDIT and I won't have to do it for you!
But if you really want me to become a bitch...I'll do it!  But you have to make sure you are READY FOR IT!

The only thing I suggest you do today is notice when you eat.  Are you eating every 2-4 hours or are there longer periods when you are not eating?  How much food are you putting away at each meal?  Is it a one or two person portion or could you serve a small Somalian family with your plate?

Don't judge what you are doing....just notice where you are and write out 50 times: I LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF EXACTLY AS I AM!  Because you need to love where you are first.  Accept your body today as it is and thank it for serving you so well.

Today's to do list:
STAY HYDRATED (drink at least one gallon of water today)
NOTICE WHEN YOU ARE EATING (and how much your portion is)
GET READY TO START EATING MORE FOOD!

See, that wasn't so bad...now was it?

WELCOME TO KITCHEN DOMINATRIX

WELCOME TO KITCHEN DOMINATRIX

I have lost 175 pounds by changing how I eat, cook and live and I am still losing weight.  I am also a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) grad who has been passionate about natural and organic foods since the early 1990's.  This blog is designed to be packed with my recipes and helpful tips to keep you on track with your diet/lifestyle...because if you want to lose weight, you have to change how you think and your approach to your culinary world.

Here are some of my "before" pictures. These were taken between 2002 and 2005.  I started my weight loss journey in 2004/2005 with a commitment to get my body back to where I loved it all the time.  I never stopped loving my big body, because I will always be a "big girl".  Hell, I'm six feet tall and in these photos I weighed between 350-375 pounds.  I never wanted to be photographed so there aren't a lot of pictures of me, before but as I find them I will put them up.

These two photos are of me at my biggest, and where I would allow to be photographed.

My profile picture is one of the most recent photos of me.  I believe weight-loss should be focused on eating a healthy diet and drinking lots of water plus exercising.  Also, I believe in losing weight slowly so I keep it off.

This blog will have photos, recipes, videos and all sorts of other things so stay tuned in and let's see what happens.

Step 1:
Clean out your fridge!
Do It!
Throw out all that no longer serves you and start fresh!  That is the best way to start the new year!

I gave up alcohol because it is packed full of calories that do not serve the body plus alcohol dehydrates the body and the goal is to stay hydrated.  So time to start drinking water!  Drink water!

DRINK LOTS OF WATER
LOVE WHERE YOU ARE
LOVE YOURSELF TODAY

Sending you love,
